Another podium finish for Kiss in Portimao

Zengő-Dension Team's Norbert Kiss finished 2nd on the third race of the Spanish SEAT Leon Supercopa in Portimao by following Marc Carol all race long. Yesterday's winner Oscar Nogués took 3rd while Duarte Félix da Costa and Attila Solti retired from the race. Kontra finished 25th.

The feature race was the only remaining installment of the Spanish SEAT Leon Supercopa in Portimao where the national championship is supporting the FIA World Touring Car Championship. The weekend so far brought a pole position for Norbert Kiss for Saturday's Race 1 which turned out to be a disappointment due unavoidable racing incidents that compromised Kiss's chances for the remaining stage of the weekend.

Race 1 was finished by Kiss on the 7th place but a spectacular start enabled him to move up to 2nd behind Oscar Nogués which meant that Kiss was given the 5th place on the grid for Race 3. Following the review of Kiss's onboard footage the Hungarian driver was hopeful for today as he could use a new set of tyres that could make a difference at the beginning of the races.

Kiss needed another impressive start to move up from 5th on the grid and he got off from the grid very well this time again. The driver of the blue SEAT was on the outside in Turn 1 and pushed hard to take 4th. When the field arrived into the hairpin Kiss was third already and by the end of Lap 1 he was driving behind leader Marc Carol.

Carol built up a comfortable 1 second lead over Kiss for the end of Lap 1 and initially it was looking like Kiss would be able to challenge the Spanish driver who drove into him yesterday but after a few laps it was obvious that there is an average 0.2 seconds difference between the laptimes of the two drivers which meant that Kiss could only hope that his opponent would make a mistake.

But he didn't. Carol was in control all race long and claimed a start to finish victory ahead of Norbert Kiss by 2.837 seconds. The third place was taken by Oscar Nogués who made to the podium on all three races of the weekend.

It was quite a straightforward race for the frontrunners as only a few movements happened over the course of the 50 km distance. Unfortunately it was not an uneventful race for the other three drivers of the Zengő-Dension Team as Duarte Félix da Costa was forced to retire from 11th due a suspension failure and Attila Solti also stopped because a puncture. György Kontra finished the race on the 25th place.

Zengő-Dension Team's SEAT Leon Supercopa operation leave Portimao with a pole position and two podium finishes in the bag. The Hungarian driver this time was not able to win any of the races but starting from the qualification he was on or close to the pace and played a significant part in shaping out the results.
