EuroCup title fight gets serious in Germany

Four races to go to decide who will be the third champion in the history of the SEAT Leon EuroCup. The championship resumes in Oschersleben which has suited well to the drivers of the Zengő-Dension Team. This might help Gábor Wéber in his aim to take back the lead in the standings.
Three main contenders have emerged for the 2010 SEAT Leon EuroCup title including Zengő-Dension Team's Gábor Wéber who is the only driver so far this year who could take two victories. Wéber started the first and the second half of the season with a win in Monza and Brno but often faced troubles on the Sundays.
This time the field arrives onto a circuit which has fitted very well to the drivers of the Zengő-Dension Team especially Gábor Wéber as the Hungarian driver was in contention for the victory back in 2008 but a mechanical failure forced him to retire two laps before the end of the race from 2nd.
Wéber needs at least this level of performance in 2010 as well in order to retake the lead in the standings and possibly make stronger his position ahead the final round in Spain because this weekend will mark the beginning of the end; when we leave on Sunday, only two races will remain from the season.

Good outlook
Last year Zengő Motorsport celebrated one of their most successful day as Norbert Michelisz took the victory on Race 1 followed by Andrea Larini on 2nd while Duarte Félix da Costa was also competitive in 2008. In case of they are able to maintain their performance they might be able to take away valuable points from Wéber's main rivals Michael Rossi and Eoin Murray.
There is no reason not to be hopeful for the weekend as Wéber stated that his car reached a very good shape five weeks ago when he took a dominant victory in the Czech Republic . He says he aims to replicate the success of the previous round.
"I think the car has got its basic balance, it was perfect in Brno. Now we only need to adjust as much as the characteristics of the circuit demand. I need to win Race 1 and the start will be key from 8th on the grid," visioned Wéber.
Start is always one of the most critical period of a race but for Wéber it is even more important as the three times race winner thinks this is where his 2nd races of each weekend tend to go wrong. First laps need improvement or better circumstances.
"Basically the starts on the 2nd races haven't been good, no matter how much I like the standing starts. For some reason they haven't worked out. I didn't do really bad starts but they weren't so good either and this is very important," Wéber expressed.
"I've always got involved in something after starting from 6th or 8th on the grid. I had to adapt to the others and couldn't gain as much on the others as I would have liked on Lap 1. Sometimes maybe I had to take more risks than I should have or got caught in a situation like in Brno. Now I will concentrate for the start because it launches a chain reaction."

The best is yet to come from team mates
Oschersleben is likely to provide a very good opportunity to give a push for Duarte Félix da Costa's and Andrea Larini's championship. Both drivers faced a series of bad luck but things started to get better recently. Da Costa claimed two second places in Brands Hatch and Brno while Larini also showed the signs of progress.
We will arrive onto a circuit on which both drivers have taken 2nd places which indicates that they have good reasons to be optimistic. This is true for Imre Birizdó as well who is getting closer and closer to the field as a result of his development over the course of the field especially on recent races.
As usual, two races will be held in Germany as well following two 30 minutes practice sessions and a 30 minutes qualification which is expected to be important as Oschersleben offers only a few points for overtaking and a lot of time can be gained or lost in the middle sector. Clean air is needed and the best chance to get it is if a driver is in front.
