Flashback: Mixed results in Oschersleben

This weekend will mark the 3rd occasion when Zengő-Dension Team compete at Motorpark Oschersleben. The German venue has seen changeable levels of success for the Hungarian outfit including a disastrous weekend and a clean sweep over the last two years.
There are circuits that are always fit for a driver and there are ones that won't, no matter what he or she does. It is hard to decide which statement is true when we start to talk about Motorpark Oschersleben but one thing is for sure; Zengő-Dension Team have always been competitive in Germany but the results sometimes didn't came as they should have.
SEAT Leon EuroCup, the single-brand support series of the FIA World Touring Car Championship has visited the circuit twice in its short history and these occasions provided four chances for the drivers to show what they are capable of behind the wheel of their cars.
Norbert Michelisz clearly emerged as the fastest driver in Oschersleben. The WTCC driver of Zengő-Dension Team has claimed both pole positions and earned the right to start from the 1st place in 2008 and 2009. It looks too good to be true but Michelisz was really unbeatable there in the EuroCup, the equipment was the only factor that could have stopped him.

Disappointment in 2008
Sadly, Michelisz took pole position for nothing in 2008 as the power steering failed on the installation lap before the race which meant that he was unable to line up for the grid. He went after the field later but retired from Race 1 early and started Race 2 from 22nd on the grid.
It is not what the fastest driver of the field is dreaming about but at least Sunday brought some success as Michelisz improved no less than 15 places and ended up 7th on Race 2. It was a small compensation for the troubles that the team had to face as Gábor Wéber also retired from Race 1 from 2nd place due mechanical problems and was hit with a drive through penalty for jumping out at the start of Race 2.
Duarte Félix Da Costa then driving for Bastos Sport was a bit more fortunate than the Zengő Motorsport duo as the Portuguese driver scored a 6th and a 2nd place in a tough battle in Germany. So far these are his only results in Oschersleben with the SEAT Leon EuroCup as he skipped the 2009 season.

Clean sweep in 2009
Last year Norbert Michelisz took pole position as well but this time nothing stopped him to monopolize Race 1 as the Hungarian driver won the race more than 5 seconds ahead team mate Andrea Larini. Michelisz also posted the fastest laptime, this completed his hat trick in Germany.
It was the first time when two Zengő Motorsport cars finished on the first two places, this unique achievement has been repeated only once since Oschersleben. On the top of that, Andrea Larini performed very well on Race 2 and finished third to take the VIP guest car for his home race in Imola.
This success meant that Zengő Motorsport supported both of their drivers to step up into the FIA WTCC which was a massive success for the team and the races have proved that Oschersleben suit to Zengő-Dension Team which is a positive sign for 2010.
