Gábor Wéber is the third winner of the SEAT Leon EuroCup in 2010. Wéber finished the season with 3 victories, 3 podium finishes and 3 pole positions over six weekends that featured 12 races this year. Zengő-Dension Team won back to back titles over two seasons in the EuroCup.
One of Zengő-Dension Team's longest serving and most successful racing driver has won the most important titles so far of his career today in Valencia; Gábor Wéber is the champion of the 2010 SEAT Leon EuroCup.
Wéber returned to the series this season after almost a year of a hiatus with the aim of following his former team mate's footsteps and win the SEAT Leon EuroCup after Norbert Michelisz's success in 2009.
The Hungarian driver showed a dominant performance on the season premiere in Monza and took victory but didn't score points on Race 2 which became a trend over the course of the year. In Zolder he did a fantastic recovery after a penalty pushed him back on the grid and took back to back podium finishes.
In Brands Hatch the low point of the season came when Wéber couldn't collect points as a result of an accident on Race 1 but since then the Hungarian driver took another two victories in Brno and Oschersleben and a podium finish in Valencia that proved to be vital in the title battle.

A finale that nobody could predict
Even Gábor Wéber had difficulties when it came to predict what will happen this weekend and this was perfectly understandable as several inputs affected the pecking order and the chances for this weekend.
Eventually Wéber managed to take a 3rd place on Saturday which was essential especially since Rossi couldn't finish the race just like on Sunday when Wéber also ended up in the gravel trap. Neither championship contenders finished the race but Rossi's earlier retirement made it sure that Wéber will keep his points advantage and win the 2010 drivers' title.
Following Race 1 it was very likely that Wéber would win this season as Rossi would have had to take at least a 2nd position and hope that Wéber retires. The latter happened but it was looking nearly impossible to take 2nd from the back of the grid therefore the only task was to try to bring the car home in one piece.
Wéber adapted this strategy at the start but this didn't stop him to take 3rd in Turn 1 after he started from 6th on the grid. Initially Pol Rosel was leading ahead Duarte Félix da Costa with Wéber settled down for third ahead Diego Puyo.
On Lap 2 Michael Rossi retired from the race which made it sure that Wéber takes the title no matter what happens in the order on Race 2. This was a relaxing development especially since Wéber also ended the race as early as halfway into the distance.
Rookie driver Pepe Oriola overtook Wéber and was driving on 3rd place but the Hungarian racer tried to retake the podium place but went wide and stuck in the gravel trap. There was no way backwards for Wéber but this didn't affect the title race.
Oriola wins Race 2
Spaniard Pepe Oriola won Race 2 from 8th on the grid with a great performance that saw him passing most of his opponents on the circuit including Wéber and da Costa who was initially running 2nd but at the end of the race he had to settle for 4th and give way to Oriola, Rosel and Francisco Carvalho to finish on the podium.
György Kontra improved a position compared to his starting place and finished 14th as a warm up before his serious outing next week in Navarra while Imre Birizdó ended up 16th on the final round. Just like Gábor Wéber, his team mate Andrea Larini also retired from Race 2.
The 2010 SEAT Leon EuroCup season came to its end today in Valencia but the team is not going for a holiday as the Spanish SEAT Leon Supercopa is still far from its finale. The EuroCup winner blue Leon will be in action in the hand of Norbert Kiss next week in Navarra.
