Norbert Kiss excluded from Race 3 in Portimao
Norbert Kiss is excluded from Race 3 of the Spanish SEAT Leon Supercopa for not carrying the same ECU device that was mentioned in the documentation. The team appealed the decision which means that the results staying provisional until the appeal gets judged.
Norbert Kiss 2nd position on the third race of the Spanish SEAT Leon Supercopa in Portimao is currently taken away by the Stewards because the ECU device that he was using in his car was mismatching with the one that was documented by the technical committee.
The device which is managing the engine's operation is identical in every car racing in the single brand championship but in order to maintain the equality the factory regularly collect and check them to minimalize the possibility of illegal software tweaking.
This is where a failure with the documentation occurred as the unit that came back from the factory is not carrying the same ID number that the one that was sent to the factory. This created a situation in which the team needs to prove that the unit was working properly and didn't give any advantage to Norbert Kiss.
Therefore Zengő-Dension Team appealed the decision and included a report that features the results of the investigation carried out by the SEAT factory engineers which revealed that the unit was featuring the factory supplied software.
Now the Hungarian outfit is waiting for the outcome of the appeal. In the meantime Norbert Kiss is officially excluded from Race 3 which means that his 2nd place is taken away but as the situation is pending the outcome of the decision by the Spanish National Authority the result of the third race remains provisional.
Not only Norbert Kiss suffers from problems from the technical scrutineering, 3rd placed driver and championship leader Oscar Nogués is also excluded for having similar issues related to the gearbox fitted to his car.
We'll post the updates on the situation on our Twitter feed or here in our website as soon as they are available.
