Norbert Michelisz equaled the best result achieved by guest drivers on his second race in the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo. Michelisz completed a stunning stint on Race 2 and took 4th. His team mate Giorgio Sanna retired the car due a mechanical failure on Race 3.
Day 2 of the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo brought a confirmation regarding the right choice of VIP guest drivers as both Norbert Michelisz and Csaba Walter proved to be candidates for podium finishes but various racing and technical issues stopped them to fulfill their ambition to earn a place among the top three.
Regardless of this, Norbert Michelisz equaled the best result reached by guest drivers this year as he took 4th on Race 2 early in the morning at the Hungaroring. Just like yesterday, Michelisz's driver pair, Giorgio Sanna started the race from 8th on the grid following their retirement on Race 1.
The official test driver of Lamborghini begun the race with a good performance and moved up in the order as high as the lead when the pitstop window opened and Michelisz got behind the wheel. The pitstop didn't go according to the plans as the front left brakes went up in flames and the Hungarian driver had to wait approximately 35 seconds to continue the race and begin his stint.
This technical problem dropped them back in the order but Michelisz started to put in an impressive effort and a series of great laptimes in the region of 1:53 came from the Hungarian driver who became the fastest driver of the field.

Michelisz set the pace over his stint on Race 2
Michelisz was pushing to try to move up in the order and a few minutes before the end of the race he got right behind Stephane Lemeret who replaced his pair Csaba Walter in the #2 VIP car. Starting from last on the grid Walter recovered their car very well and moved up until 4th when his partner took over.
It was a straight fight between Michelisz and Lemeret who was around a second slower than the Hungarian driver and only one and a half lap was needed for Michelisz to force his opponent to make a mistake and get P4.
As a result of this, Michelisz and his partner Giorgio Sanna became the first pair of drivers this year who took 4th place, the best achievement so far in the series before the ultimate race of a weekend. Normally the guest drivers get up to speed for Race 3 and take their best result on their last shot but this time Michelisz and Sanna managed to take 4th right at the beginning of the second day at the Hungaroring.
Race 2 was won by Marc Hayek and Peter Kox, they finished 21. 302 seconds ahead Michelisz which means that should Michelisz and Sanna don't get hindered at the pitstop, they would have won the race easily which made the team very encouraged.
"I'm really proud of our performance as we were only 21 seconds behind the car that won the race and should this problem avoid us, we would have won the race. Our pace is an incredible gratification for me as I was concerned a bit before the weekend because the cars that I have driven have been around 300 horse powers and this is almost 600," said Norbert Michelisz.
"I rate not only today but the entire weekend positive because it was clear that we were able to fight for the podium on every races and this is the most important. I really enjoyed the weekend, thank you very much for providing the chance for me to take part."

Race 3 didn't work out
Everything looked set for a great showdown for Race 3 of the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo at the Hungaroring as Giorgio Sanna started from 4th on the grid followed by Csaba Walter on 5th. Sanna quickly took over the third place but on Lap 7 Walter was able to overtake him soon before the Italian driver was forced to retire the car shared with Norbert Michelisz due a technical failure. This time the gearbox was the cause of the exit almost in time when Michelisz started to put on his helmet to take over the car.
Race 3 was looking promising for Csaba Walter who was running on third before he handed over the drive for Stephane Lemeret who proved to be slower and also spun on his out lap which meant that he slipped back to 6th.
The retirement made it sure that Michelisz couldn't show his speed on Race 3 but it didn't stop the plenty of fans to come into the paddock and congratulate the Hungarian driver who returned to home soil after almost a year of absence.
Fans and media representatives welcomed Michelisz's presence on the prestigious Le Mans Series weekend at the Hungaroring before the Hungarian driver returns to the field of the FIA World Touring Car Championship which holds its forthcoming round in Oschersleben, Germany in two weeks time.
