Yesterday's race winner Gábor Wéber and team mate Duarte Félix da Costa retired from Race 2 of the SEAT Leon EuroCup in Brno. They were both involved in crashes in their bid to try to improve on their positions as they were clearly faster than their opponents. Rossi is back in the championship lead.
After the 1-2 finish on Saturday, Sunday brought a double retirement for Zengő-Dension Team's Gábor Wéber and team mate Duarte Félix da Costa. The duo of the Hungarian outfit started the race from 8th and 7th on the grid following their victory on Race 1 but today they were unable to convert their pace to valuable points.
Wéber and da Costa started the race in an aggressive fashion as they were eager to pass as many cars as possible right at the beginning of the race because it is difficult to overtake in Brno but their - especially Wéber's - pace indicated that he would be able to drive significantly faster than the others once he gets past them.
The Hungarian driver was trying to find room anywhere it was possible but as a result of his push he was hit by Eoin Murray and fell back to 11th after keeping 8th following the start. The car then didn't suffer any major damages but Wéber had to start to try gain back what he lost and by the halfway of the race he got ahead of main championship challenger Michael Rossi and took 7th.
Meanwhile Alexander Dudukalo built up a comfortable lead but 2nd placed driver Marcos De Diego was caught by Diego Puyo and the two Spanish driver made contact. Puyo was able to continue the race but Diego retired following a crash with Duarte Félix da Costa who tried to pass the slower Spanish driver but their lines crossed each other and da Costa ended up in the gravel with a damaged car.

This created a big mess among the cars coming from behind and initially it was seeming that a good opportunity arised for Wéber to gain more positions but he clashed with Pepe Oriola who was not willing to let Wéber to get by.
The two cars crashed and Wéber's suspension got a big hit. At first it was looking like Wéber is simply pushed to the outside of the last turn and was classified 7th again while Rossi took 3rd but a few meters later Wéber retired his car on the trackside.
Just like in Monza he won Race 1 in a dominant fashion and failed to score points on Race 2 which means that French driver Michael Rossi took back the lead in the championship as a result of his 4th place. From Wéber's perspective things could've got even worse as Rossi was 3rd after the incident but he was later passed by Eoin Murray who took the last podium spot behind Alexander Dudukalo and Diego Puyo.
At the end of the action packed and very messy Race 2 Russian driver Alexander Dudukalo celebrated his start to finish victory. Andrea Larini was the only driver of Zengő-Dension Team who was able to score points on Race 2, he finished 6th and concluded his first back to back point scoring weekend since Monza.
Imre Birizdó finished 10th in Brno after falling down at the start and failing to take advantage of the racing incidents ahead of him. The young former karting driver has made a considerable progress over the course of the weekend and he'll have another chance to get among the point scorers in Oschersleben in a month time.
