Zengő-Dension Team's Gábor Wéber posted the fastest time on the last qualification of the 2010 SEAT Leon EuroCup which means he'll start from 6th on the grid as a result of his 5 place grid penalty. Oscar Nogués és title rival Michael Rossi will take over the first row.
On Saturday morning Gábor Wéber achieved what was necessary in order to keep himself in the title hunt following the 5 place grid penalty imposed on him in Oschersleben. Wéber posted the fastest laptime in qualifying therefore he will start from 6th on the grid in row 3.
The first tierce of the session passed without major developments regarding the outcome of the session but things started to move when Wéber posted his 1:46.402 that put him onto the lead. Initially, the time was considered not to be enough for the pole position by Norbert Michelisz who paid attention to follow one of the most important session for his former teammate.
Michelisz guessed that any driver who wanted to take pole would need to be in the end of the 1:45s but eventually Wéber's 1:46.402 was good enough to stay on the top. Surprisingly neither Wéber nor his main competitors, returnee driver Oscar Nogués (+0.058) and title rival Michael Rossi (+0.259) was able to improve the laptime which might be answered by the increasing temperatures.

Wéber is left alone
Qualification didn't work out for the other drivers of the Zengő-Dension Team. Especially Duarte Félix da Costa couldn't live up to his expectations and finished 10th on the session. Initially it was looking better for the Portuguese driver but he started to move down in the order as the times were coming and opted to end his session almost two minutes before its end.
As da Costa was penalized as well, he will start from only 15th on the grid which makes it very unrealistic for him to fight for the 3rd position in the championship and also rules out a scenario in which he would have any impact on the ongoing title battle between Rossi and Wéber.
Basically the same is true for Andrea Larini who finished 15th and will start from the 20th, Imre Birizdó with his 21st place and György Kontra who was 27th.
Still not clear what is going to happen
Over the course of the session Race Control announced that Gábor Wéber is under investigation for speeding in the pitlane and 5th placed Marcos De Diego also had an issue which means that there is a possibility that the grid will be modified ahead the race but as of noon there is no information on the matter.
Race 1 will start at 2:20 PM, it will be a major milestone towards the end of the season. The destination is not so far, tomorrow everything will be finally decided but before that, the drivers will line up against each other today as well to try to build up an advantage for tomorrow.
It will be down to Wéber and Rossi as their only challenger finished only 16th on the qualification.
